Dean's a time-served carpenter — that's the heart of every job. But over 28 years, DRC has grown into a one-stop crew for homeowners who'd rather not chase six different trades themselves.
Kitchen Fitting
Full kitchen design, supply and fit. Howdens, Magnet, Wren or your own units — DRC fits to the wall you've actually got, not the wall the catalogue assumed.
Bathroom Fitting
Wet rooms, family bathrooms, en-suites. Tiling, fitting, the lot — coordinated under one job, one price, one phone call.
Plumbing (non-gas)
Wet work for kitchens and bathrooms — sinks, taps, showers, radiators, leak repairs and pipework. Anything not requiring a Gas Safe ticket; for boilers and gas, we'll bring in our trusted Gas Safe partner.
Loft Conversions
Dormers, Velux, hip-to-gable. Structural calcs, building regs, the full conversion turn-key. Margate roofs are funny shapes — Dean's done plenty of them.
Decking & Outdoor
Hardwood and composite decking, pergolas, fencing, garden offices, summer houses. Built to last a Margate winter — not just look pretty in May.
Renovations & Extensions
Single-storey rears, side returns, full house refurbs. Plans drawn, structural opened up, finished and signed off — DRC manages the whole sequence.

About Dean
I started with a tool belt. Still wear one most days.
I'm Dean Cross — born and bred in Thanet, on the tools since 1996. DRC stands for Design, Renovate, Construct (and yes, my initials).
I trained as a carpenter and that's still the heart of how I work. Over the years I've built up a small, trusted crew that covers everything else — so when you hire DRC for a kitchen, you're not chasing six different trades about the plumbing, the tiling, the wiring.

Design
Free site visit. We measure up, listen to what you actually want, and come back with a written quote — and for bigger jobs, drawings or a 3D walkthrough.
Renovate
Strip-out, structural, first fix. We protect your floors, contain the dust where we can, and tidy up at the end of every day. Daily updates so you're never in the dark.
Construct
Second fix, finishes, snagging. We don't disappear before the job's properly done — and we come back if anything needs sorting weeks down the line.

Do you give free quotes?
Yes — always. Site visit, measure-up, written quote with no pressure to commit. We'd rather walk away from a job than over-promise.
What areas do you cover?
All of Thanet (Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Cliftonville, Westgate, Birchington), plus Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Sandwich, Deal and across east Kent. Further afield for bigger jobs — ask.
Do you do gas work?
No — Dean isn't Gas Safe registered. We handle all wet plumbing (sinks, taps, showers, radiators, pipework), and for anything gas (boilers, hobs, fires) we bring in a trusted Gas Safe engineer we've worked with for years.
Are you insured?
Fully — public liability and tools/employers cover. Certificates available on request before any job starts.
How do you charge?
Fixed-price quotes for defined jobs (kitchens, bathrooms, decking, conversions). Day rates only for ad-hoc smaller work, and always agreed up front. No hidden charges, no nasty end-of-job invoices.
How long does a kitchen / bathroom / loft take?
Rough guide — kitchens 1-2 weeks, bathrooms 1-2 weeks, loft conversions 8-12 weeks depending on roof type and finishes. We give you a proper schedule with the quote.
Can you draw up plans for me?
For loft conversions, extensions and structural work, yes — we can produce drawings and handle Building Regs/Planning submissions through our architect partners. Standard renovations don't usually need this.
Do you take card / bank transfer?
Bank transfer is preferred (BACS / Faster Payments). Standard payment terms: 25% on start, 50% at first-fix, 25% on completion. Smaller jobs invoiced on completion only.
